How to Choose the Right Press-On Nail Size
Learn how to choose the right press-on nail size for each finger, avoid lifting, and get a more natural salon-style fit.
How to Choose the Right Press-On Nail Size
The right press-on nail size should cover your natural nail from sidewall to sidewall without pressing into the skin. If a nail is too small, it can lift at the edges. If it is too large, it can look bulky or uncomfortable.
The Fast Sizing Method
Before applying adhesive, lay out all nails and test each one against your natural nails. Match thumbs first, then index fingers, middle fingers, ring fingers, and pinkies. Keep left and right hand sizes in order.
What a Good Fit Looks Like
A good press-on should sit flush with the nail plate. It should not pinch the skin, leave exposed natural nail at the sides, or rock back and forth when you press it down.
If You Are Between Two Sizes
Choose the slightly larger nail and gently file the sides. You can make a press-on smaller, but you cannot make a too-small nail wider.
Why Sizing Affects Wear Time
Poor sizing is one of the biggest reasons press-ons pop off. A nail that is too curved, too narrow, or too wide will not bond evenly. Even pressure across the nail surface gives the adhesive a better chance to hold.
The Bottom Line
Take two minutes to size before you apply. It is the easiest way to make your press-on nails look more natural and last longer.
